We entered Vietnam via Lao Bao (Quang Tri district) and travelled south along the coastal highway using private transport. Calypso was not allowed into Vietnam. It could have made it if we had sufficient time to apply for the permit. Because we had entered Vietnam about the 17deg parallel, we skipped North Vietnam all together.
The coast line is indeed very beautiful but we do not have a lot of photo to show the natural beauty.
We were travelling in private air-conditioned vehicles with sealed windows. Unlike Calypso, we couldn't take photos along the way.
We stopped over at the city of Hue. Here are some photos taken inside the ancient palace grounds:
Next stop was the city of Hoi An, another city with an ancient past:
We went to the beach for nostalgic reason, we met up with the South China Sea again, after about six months since leaving Kuantan in March.
I wonder how one could paddle a round boat - Le in one of them for the pose.
A picture of the roof-covered Japanese Bridge in Hoi An.
We spent a few days at a beach resort – the Jungle Beach Resort – about 60km north of Nha Trang.
The sea water was warm. Le and I spent some time exploring the surrounding and the rocky section of the coastline further south of the resort.
This magnificent bird was actually in captivity at one of the road construction hut a short distance from the JungleBeach Resort.
