Kyrgyzstan is really a very beautiful country - very scenic. Most of the mountain ranges in Central Asia meet here. It has the Pamir to the south west (the ranges where Polos - Marco, his father and uncle - had problem during their travel); Fergana range to the south east; Tien Shan range to the east and some other range to the north.
I have not attached any pitures taken at Bishkek to save some space for pictures taken from the country sice. In Bishkek though, we managed to find Lenin's statue. It was apparently located in the main street but with the fall of the Soviet Union, it was relegated to the back of the park - facing the parliament.
We bush camped on the shore of Issyk-Kol. Picture shows a fellow traveller relaxing reading a book and a lone swimmer (Le) in the water.
Most of the attached photos were taken at Jeti Oghuz and surrounding. It is way off the beaten track but worth the time spending there. Exceptional natural beauty. The pictures tell the story? Not really. One ought to be there to appreciate this beautiful place. On the first day John, Le and myself walked down to the lower village (Sanitorium) - crossing the five bridges - and up the hill to the east of the village.
The next day, John was on cook group duty and could not join us (excuses, excuses!!) for a more adventurous trip up the steep hill on the other side of the river opposite to where we camped.
We went up through the 5th bridge and came back through the 6th bridge. It would have been better the other way round. Coming down was very challenging and we got ourselves badly cut by gorse (or similar thorny plants), despite warning from Cheryl of the same happened to a previous year traveller. We were tire but so invigorating when we eventually arrived back in the camp. Have attached some pictures taken from above the top of this big steep "hill" (it was a mountain!!). One of the picture shows the camp site below - straight down! Try spotting Calypso -tiny blue/orange spot.
